We are used to customers taking DuoGen to the Mediterranean,
the Canaries and the West Indies, but recently we heard about
a very different trip.
The owner of a Southerley 110 loaned his yacht to his son for
a journey to the Baltic in aid of The Calvert Trust, Exmoor,
a charity that provides adventure holidays for disabled people.
The voyage lasted 96 days, the yacht visited 10 countries and
sailed 3852 nautical miles. A great time was had by all, and
lots of photographs were taken.
One of these pictures has been used extensively in advertising
for Southerly yachts, and we are delighted that ‘Wopa’s’
DuoGen is clearly visible in the ads.

2004 |
With the 2004 sailing season rapidly approaching,
and following a very successful London Boat Show, demand for
DuoGens is building.
If you are thinking of purchasing a DuoGen in the next few
months, please contact us and let us know. This will enable
us to plan our production schedules – the more notice
we have, the more likely it is we can supply your DuoGen when
you want it.

| So said Sailing Today’s product tester,
Garth Cooper when he visited our stand at the London Boat
Show. Garth has had a DuoGen on his boat on long term test
for over a year, and his latest report appeared in the December
edition of ST where it was given a “Highly Recommended”
award.
Garth also said to us, “Using the DuoGen has lengthened
the life of my batteries by a year longer than the manufacturers
claim.”
No, he’s not on our payroll!

SHIPSHOP.de,
a company that specialises in providing equipment for blue
water sailing via their catalogue and web site, are now DuoGen
suppliers in Germany.
The DuoGen was recently a big hit at the Dusseldorf Boat Show
on ShipShop’s stand, where our MD, Pete Anderson, was
a guest demonstrator.

London Boat Show |
“A fantastic way to celebrate the 50th
anniversary of the world’s best-known boat show.”
By the close of the London Boat Show on 18th January, the organisers
could claim that this was ‘the largest exhibition to have
ever been held in London.’ The final attendance figure
was 210,300, exceeding the target figure set for the new venue.
Many exhibitors reported a very successful show. It certainly
was for the DuoGen.

Another Success
Story |
You may be interested to know that
the leisure marine industry in the UK is “moving from
strength to strength”. The British Marine Federation (a
body which represents many UK companies in the industry) announced
figures for 2003 at the London Boat Show. The statistics indicate
that the export market for the British marine industry grew
by 10% in 2003, and revenue over 5 years has increased by 45%.
This success is in part attributed to “the high quality
design and innovation of the UK’s marine products”.
