OUR BEST SHOW EVER!!
|
This was the impression we had when the London Boat Show closed on 15th January, in spite of the fact that visitor numbers to the show were a little down on last year. The threat of a tube strike may have affected attendance over the first weekend, but numbers improved later in the week, and the second weekend was very busy.
Certainly Eclectic Energy attracted a flow of visitors throughout the show. Our corner stand looked good, and featured a moving display, a StealthGen turbine mounted above the stand with the blades turned by a motor. See the picture below.
Judging from the enthusiasm of our visitors, both the DuoGen and the D400 are the generators everyone wants for their boat! And over 20% also enquired about the StealthGen and domestic wind power installations.
Interest in the D400 was particularly strong following the Practical Boat Owner magazine comparative test, which named the D400 a ‘Best Buy’ for high output. One visitor said, having examined the machine, that it was “the best I’ve ever seen”.
As usual, we had visits from many existing customers. One described the DuoGen as “absolutely brilliant”, having taken part in ARC 2005. All were delighted with their DuoGens and D400s. Thank you very much to all those who came on our stand, and we look forward to receiving your pictures, installation drawings and follow-up enquiries in the next few weeks.

Boot Dusseldorf |
| The beginning of the year is a busy time for boat shows, and Boot Dusseldorf took place from 21st to 29th January. Our German distributor, Schulz-Hohenstein Soehne (ShipShop) displayed a DuoGen-2 and a StealthGen on their stand. ShipShop specialises in kitting out yachts for bluewater cruising, and Georg Seifert and his team can advise yachtsmen on the equipment they will need. Tel: +49 203/352044 |

Tip of the month! |
To all DuoGen and D400 owners, here is a ‘handy hint’ passed on to us by a customer at the London show.
If you need to tie up the blades of your wind turbine, rather than using cord, make up a short length of webbing with a velcro closure to do the job.
Not only is this quicker to use, it is also kinder to the leading and trailing edges of the blades.

ARC 2005 |
Look out for a report in the March issue of Practical BoatOwner, where ARC 2005 participants talk about their experiences on the trip. Many rated the DuoGen their ‘best buy’ piece of kit! Read all about it!

Double D400 Installation
We often have enquiries from owners of yachts with targas, looking for suggestions for fitting a DuoGen.
As you can imagine, this is often a problem, particularly when it comes to changing mode. And if you are unable to fit a DuoGen to cope with power requirements on passage, what are the alternatives?
We recently came across this installation on a yacht in New Zealand where the customer has fitted not one but two D400s to produce lots of power.
We think this dual installation looks great, and is worth bearing in mind if your yacht has a targa or stern arch.
