| DuoGen - January 2005 Newsletter |
Have you visited the Schroders London Boat Show
yet? |
The fifty-first International boat show is being
held at ExCel in Docklands from 6th – 16th January 2005.
2004 was the first Show at the new venue, and now exhibitors, and
visitors, are beginning to feel more at home.
Eclectic has a great stand on a corner, just as you enter the South
Hall at the S4 entrance. We are enjoying larger visitor numbers
than ever this year, as the DuoGen becomes better known among serious
cruising yachtsmen.
On Stand S2410, you can see for the first time the exciting new-look
DuoGen with its moulded yaw arm and stiffer, 75mm diameter tower.
And you can also see the D400 Wind Generator which has exceeded
expected outputs in recent tests (see the output graph later in
this newsletter).
We look forward to meeting you, and taking your order for the generating
system which best suits your needs.

ARC 2005 and beyond |
Eclectic Energy’s MD, Pete Anderson,
was invited to join the Atlantic Circuit Forum held at the Show last
Saturday by the World Cruising Club in association with the BMF and
‘Yachting World’.
Nearly 200 prospective ARC participants attended, to discuss issues
such as power generation, water making and sail choices.
The panel of experts, including Andrew Bray, editor of ‘Yachting
World’, brought together a broad range of cruising knowledge
and experience to advise on equipment issues.
Towed water generators were recommended, and the panel commented in
particular on the DuoGen’s ability to cover all a yacht’s
electrical loads during an Atlantic crossing.
If you are planning an extended offshore cruise, you need the DuoGen!

Users of our new wind turbine are reporting excellent outputs, especially
in the recent gales!
Below is our output graph for the D400, showing it to be the best-performing

DuoGen Storage |
One of the (many) great features of the DuoGen is the
way in which parts not in use can be stored in minimum space.
We have recently heard from a customer who has devised a simple yet
convenient way of storing the water impeller unit (see the picture
above).
He screwed a coat hook (the flat variety) inside a locker, then attached
a piece of box section to it with plastic ties. (You could use any
piece of tube, round or square, with an internal diameter of about
2 cms.)
The water unit slots into the tube, where it is always on hand, and
you can’t trip over it. Thanks for the tip, Brian.
