DuoGen - June 2005 Newsletter

D400 @ Greenpeace @Glastonbury –“a taste of the future”

We are delighted to report that the first micro wind generator to ‘headline’ at the Glastonbury Festival 2005 is a D400!
We have supplied a machine to Greenpeace, to complement the theme of their ‘village’ area which is climate change and Africa.
The Festival, from 24th to 26th June, takes place during the days leading up to the G8 summit at Gleneagles, and Greenpeace plans to collect support for their campaign to “take action against climate change”, and publicly challenge the politicians.
“At this year’s festival, we will be asking everyone to choose clean energy,” says Greenpeace.
And the D400 Wind Generator will be helping to put across the message.

The D400 Wind Generator is now available from stock.

STOP PRESS

A D400 Wind Generator is to be used by yachtswoman Margaret Williams who is planning to be the first woman to sail solo, non-stop and unassisted, around Australia. Margaret plans to leave her home base in Queensland in mid to late July and travel in an anti-clockwise direction. The trip will cover about 7,500 nautical miles, and take about 70 days.
The loan of a D400 represents joint sponsorship by Eclectic Energy Ltd and by our Australian distributor, Power Protection Solutions.
More on this venture next month!

And finally….

As usual, we can’t resist repeating one or two comments recently received from customers.
About the DuoGen, PP reported from the Pacific:
“We didn’t touch engine key for 1st 9 days with all equipment in use. (Inc TV!) We can’t be without DUOGEN!”
And HD commented about a new D400 (terrestrial) installation on the South coast of England: “It is head and shoulders better than any wind generator we have had!” and went on to praise the quietness and power output.

The Yachting World ARC 2004 Equipment Survey (June 2005 issue)

DuoGen was used by 7 participants in last year’s ARC. Those surveyed scored the machine very well for reliability and value for money, and gave it top marks for user friendliness. It was also acknowledged as being “an incredibly effective way of generating power”, having “fantastic power output in water mode, and easy to deploy and recover and convert to wind.”
There was still the odd drive shaft problem reported by larger yachts at fast surfing speeds. However, the new heavier DuoGen-2 drive shafts can transmit more than five times the torque of the original, so these problems should be a thing of the past.
When all the points were added up across the various types and makes of blue water cruising equipment, DuoGen was in the top 10.
So, the message is clear, don’t leave harbour without it!
