Noisy Wind Generators
Two in the ARC

Wind Generator Noise

Our survey of yachtsmen's attitudes to
on-board renewable energy provision in July, told
us that by far the greatest drawback to wind
generators is considered to be the noise they make.

Over 80% of our respondents made this point.

A letter in the November issue of SailingToday comments on the findings of that magazine's wind tunnel test of generators earlier this year.
The writer said that the description of a certain wind generator being "very noisy" was "something of an understatement".

DuoGen runs quietly and without vibration to the living quarters of the yacht.
Our customers are delighted to find that it lives up to our claims!

One customer tells us that his neighbours all comment on how quiet the machine is, and he keeps looking out to check that DuoGen is still there and running - it's so unobtrusive, actually seeing it is the only way he can be sure!

DuoGen has all the advantages of a powerful wind generator without the disadvantages.

Add to that the practicality and convenience of our water mode, replacing power to your batteries as you sail, and you have the perfect generating system.

If you've been put off wind generators in the past because of their anti-social (and anti-sleep!) side effects, think again.

Two on the ARC

We are pleased to report that two of the vessels leaving Gran Canaria on the 24th November will be carrying DuoGen machines. One is a catamaran, the other a 40' yacht.

The 2002 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers will certainly put DuoGen through its paces, in particular the water mode which comes into its own during an extended cruise.

In its survey of equipment used in last year's ARC, Yachting World magazine (July 02 edition) reported that towed water generators were considered to provide plenty of power but plenty of problems too!
Impellers jumping out of the water or being eaten by sharks, tow ropes snarling and knotting up, and drag slowing the boat - all were common complaints.

DuoGen's impeller stays submerged in higher speeds than other machines, and operates in the same wave as the yacht, so is unlikely to be consumed by a hungry fish!

There is no long tow rope to get knotted up, and our tests show that , amp for amp, DuoGen causes 30% less drag than its competitors.

So, we wish 'our' ARC competitors a safe voyage, a successful rally, and a good experience with DuoGen!
