Design Winner |
DuoGen has been nominated for the prestigious ‘DAME’
awards at the Marine
Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam where the product is to be
exhibited.
The award is made every year for the best new products at the Show.
METS is the premier show in the world for leisure marine equipment,
so this is quite an accolade. The Show is on from 18th – 20th
November 2003 at the RAI. Winners will be announced on the morning
of the 18th November.
Over 100 new products from all over the world are entered for the
award every year, and a panel of experienced and distinguished judges
assess the entries on “styling, functionality, construction
and innovation in the design”.
It’s going to be one of those ‘Oscar moments’
on the morning of the 18th, and we are very excited. Whatever the
final results, DuoGen has gained a place in the DAME 2003 Exhibition,
and is very much in the spotlight at this show.

Ocean Challenge 2003 |
Have you been following Jim Shekhdar’s progress with his latest
venture, a solo row from New Zealand to Capetown via Cape Horn? The
boat's electrics are powered by a DuoGen. It was planned to begin
in September, but additional preparations have delayed the start.
We can report that the intrepid Jim has at last set off from Invercargill,
New Zealand. His projected landfall in Cape Town is early May 2004.
We wish him all the best in what is a difficult and hazardous journey.
You can keep up with him on his web site, www.oc2003.com
or at
the BBC. Back to newsletter contents

ARC 2003 |
225 yachts are entered for this year’s rally, and they are
now gathering in Gran Canaria.
This annual transatlantic rally starting each November in Las Palmas
de Gran Canaria, has now become the most popular way to cross the
Atlantic. Every year the ARC brings together yachts from all over
the world in the largest transocean sailing event in the world.
The Caribbean destination is Rodney Bay in St.Lucia, one of the most
beautiful islands in the Lesser Antilles. The 2700 nautical mile passage
on the NE tradewind route takes on average between 12 and 24 days.
Several of this year’s participants are DuoGen owners, and
we wish them a safe and enjoyable crossing.
